Okay guys.

Here is the scoop.

The day after I talked about how incredible I'm doing I had a rib dislocation.

Imagine that, right?

Anyway, it was the first one I've had since August.

That's flippin' amazing!!

How it happened...

Not sure, actually.  I was fine.

Then Thursday night Keith and I were finishing up This Is Us for the season and my arm started to tingle.

Then shooting pains underneath my left breast started.

I ignored it.

Went to bed.

Woke up at 2 AM and my left arm was completely immobile.  I couldn't do a thing with it.

It was purple and swollen.

I picked it up with my other hand, crawled out of bed and worked through all my Mayo stretches.

The numbness went away after about 10 minutes.

I popped a Tylenol. (First one in nearly 2 months; I'm on no form of medicated pain relief these days. Pat on back. Good job, Kirsten.)

& I went back to bed.

When I woke up for the day I was in a lot of pain, but my arm wasn't numb this time. Just tingling. Bonus.

Happened to peer over my shoulder when I was getting changed for the day and the left side of my back, midway down was nice and bruised.

Lovely, that always signifies a dislocation to me.

Onto the point.

My DO isn't in on Friday's and will be retiring May 1 so it was time for me to figure something else out.

Kind've disheartening because:

A. It's really hard to get anybody to want to pop me

B. He's been doing it since high school. He knows my body well.

What the hell do I do?

Hit up my massage therapist.

I've been seeing Megan for almost 3 years now.

She's incredible.

I highly recommend her.

But don't take all her time guys, cause I'm greedy.

I hit her up, let her know what was going on and she had me in Friday afternoon.

When I got there, things were pretty locked up.

Difficult for me to twist to the left without shooting pain.

When I left, I could twist almost normally.

She performed some type of Voo Doo Magic on me.

Ok, technical term is Myofascial Release.

No manipulation, no screeching pain.

Just a movement of energy.

Yesterday I was already back to normal activity.

& out and about with my husband all afternoon in Cedar Rapids.

Looks like I found yet another radical treatment to add to the list.

To Megan:

You are the raddest human.

I love you and your soul.

I'm thankful to have you in my life.

& not just as a massage therapist but as a friend.

Thanks for taking such good care of me & understanding my body.

I wish everybody had the chance to know you.

Guys, new things are scary.

They take guts.

They require dedication and zest.

They require ample research.

You may meet 20 people before you find your match.

Maybe even 100.

Make sure you take the time.

You learn from the journey.

& you only surround yourself with people who make you happy.

Who make you comfortable.

Who understand you.

Life is supposed to be incredible.

Don't let any person or any thing make it less than that.

You have the power in choosing your environment.

You have the power to change your environment. Love it all.

Today's tip: Pick something toxic in your life that you want to be done with. It could be anything from smoking to not putting your robe on in the morning. Choose to be done with it. You have to be full in. You have to want it with every cell in your body for this to work. Set goals towards getting there. Choose a reward system. Do whatever you have to do to say goodbye.

Here is my example:

When I got home from Mayo, I decided I needed to ditch my robe. It needed to be gone. There were many days that it never came off throughout the day. Gross. I didn't get there overnight. It was a habit that I had formed over 3 years that needed erased. I bargained with myself and decided I would only wear it on the morning of my massage and weekend mornings. The other 4 days, I had to get dressed right away in the morning before heading downstairs for the day. I did that, for a couple weeks and at that point was ready to say see ya sucker for good. It is now sitting in my donate pile.

You don't have to scratch something cold turkey. It usually doesn't work that way. Think of how long it took you to form those habits. Trace the steps. Figure out how to undo them. Then undo them.

& don't feel bad about the hiccups. Remember what they say about "muscle memory". Same goes. We can't do it perfect every damn day. Just do your best.

Hope you all had a good weekend!
