BUT YOU'RE SO PLEASANT

How many of you out here that are or have been sick heard this in your life?

It's probably one of the comments that annoys me the most when I have to tell somebody my ailments.

Like, really?

What am I supposed to do.

Walk in stomping my feet.

Huffing.

Biting my lip.

Complaining about the bitch that parked crooked in the parking spot outside?

No.

Just because i'm "sick" doesn't mean i'm a bitter old hag.

I'm not mad at the world.

Yes, I have moments where i'm irritated AF and behave in a way that isn't what I expect of myself.

But to be honest, it usually isn't related to being "sick".

It is another issue all together.

Maybe I spilled my drink, the washing machine broke, Keith's schedule changed, the dog won't stop barking and I didn't get a good nights sleep all in the same day.

That is the kind of shit that adds up to make me an unpleasant person.

Now i'm sure there are some people out there who can relate unpleasant behavior to illness.

Like a case of the man flu.

I get it.

Sometimes feeling under the weather can agitate us even more.

But just because somebody is sick, doesn't mean they can't be pleasant.

Here is a list of things you can say instead of "but you're so pleasant" when somebody tells you they are chronically ill.

1. You could just listen.

2. I had no idea all of this was going on.

3. How does this affect your day to day life?

4. Are you able to manage your symptoms pretty well?

5. You impress me, or you inspire me.

6. Your grace is incredible.

7. Is there anything I can do to help?

8. Will you please let me know if I ever ask too much of you?
