2021 SUPERSIX

Updated: Jul 26, 2022

Hi there gals and pals.

It's SUPERSIX time.

Figured it would be a good idea to do a 2021 recap of my favorite things spanning 6 different categories.

Sharing my most favorite from each category.

All things I ran across this year.

How fun. 🤗

Categories: music, hair, beauty, makeup, technology and books.

& in no particular order, let's hit it.

1. MUSIC : DANGEROUS ALBUM BY MORGAN WALLEN

A golden nugget of a masterpiece that got me through the hardest part of the year. I honestly would just put it on shuffle and listen to all the songs over and over, but some favorites were : Silverado for Sale, Me On Whiskey, This Bar, More Than My Hometown, Whiskey'd My Way, 865, Wasted On You.

Pretty much the entire album. 🤪

You can say what you want about him, but I love a human who makes mistakes, learns from them, centers themselves and comes back into the world with all the love and light they always held within.

Cheers to being a better human than those who cancelled him this year.

We all make mistakes.

It's part of being human.

It's what we do about them that separates us from the pack.

Sharing this video, because it is MY FAVORITE song from the album. Enjoy.

Holy heck and bob.

This stuff is incredible!!

I was a long time user of the Redkin Anti-Snap, then switched to Pureology Multitasking Leave in Spray for over 5 years (also great!) but switched it up to this guy in August and haven't touched my half used Pureology product since.

The scent is out of this world, the consistency is so good and the healthy shine and softness it has brought to my hair is incredible.

Also, it is a heat protectant and somehow makes my hair dry faster.

Not sure if that's a claim they hold but it is true for me.

The only downfall to the product is since it is a rather thick consistency, I wish it was in a pump bottle instead of a spray bottle. It comes out in blobs at times and I feel like you waste a lot that doesn't hit your head. So, I recommend spraying it into your hand and then applying it through your hair.

I have no interest in seeking out and trying to find another leave in at this point. (But I like testing product, so I'll never say never.)

Anyway, this stuff is excellent. I've also tried their Monsoon Moisture Mask and Prickly Pear Hair Oil. Liking both, but I do have a hair oil I like better. Bought the shampoo and conditioner to try but haven't given it a go yet. Will keep you posted.

Got to make a visit to their storefront while visiting family in Arizona in October.

Look how beautiful their showroom is.

That sink!! ☺️

Okay, I've tried so many vitamin c serums & products.

So many.

But this one...this one takes the cake so far.

I have so much dark pigmentation around my chin and jawline. Nothing has ever worked like this.

Don't get me wrong, I still have pigmentation, but it is significantly lighter.

It has a slightly tacky feel to it which I don't hate and I don't love but it isn't drying on the face.

I like to apply it after I wash my face in the evening and let it soak in for 10-20 minutes before applying anything else.

To be totally honest, I usually take of my makeup after we eat dinner (around 7PM) and apply the serum. Then we watch TV, get up to other shenanigans or I read until we go to bed at 10PM. Right before bed I put on my moisturizer and hit the pillow.

Vitamin C can make you more susceptible to sunburn so I don't apply it in the morning. You do you.

But I highly recommend this product.

Holy heck and bob AGAIN!

This stuff is fire!

I've had another color of this in the past and loved the formula so that wasn't new.

It's shiny, but not sparkly or wet looking. Just the perfect amount of voluptuous juiciness for your lips.

But this color on my skin tone is just it. 👌🏼

I can't go anywhere wearing it without people asking what it is.

It has become my signature lippy.

& now you know and can enjoy it too.

But, seriously, if the color isn't for you or doesn't' suit your skin tone, I highly recommend the product in a different color.

It is easy to apply, will make your lips look nice even when they are chapped and you don't need a lipliner to apply it. It leaves a bit of a stain, doesn't bleed and wears off evenly which I love even more.

& the smell. wow. fabulous!

I have it on in these two photos.

5. TECHNOLOGY : SPLICE

Splice is an app that you can download onto your phone and create and edit video for your Instagram (or Youtube or TikTok etc.).

It is easy to use, fuss free and user friendly. They couldn't have made it more simple.

It allows me to make really cool videos like this one. Check me out @kirs10kay

Or this one! 🤗 Might as well follow me @replantednutrition too.

Alright I have a confession to make.

I only read 10 books this year.

That is a sad number for me. I usually read around 15-20.

But I guess I spent more of my time doing other things.

Totally getting back on the bandwagon this year though, because it just brings me so much peace & happiness and fills me with so much creativity.

But this book earned a special place in my heart.

I'm not one to pick up books that are super hyped. Mostly because they never live up to the expectation surrounding them. In my eyes anyway.

I recieved this book for Christmas and started it in April. We had so much going on that I made it 1/3 of the way through and never picked it back up. Not becuase it wasn't good. It was. I just wasn't making time to read it. I picked it back up on our Mexico trip in May and I have to give it a 5/5 rating.

IT WAS SOOOO GOOD! The ending. Woah. Was not expecting that.

In the best of ways. Buy it. Read it. Keep it. Because you will want to read it again.

That is it.

Those are my favorites for the year we called 2021.

Hope you enjoyed and can find some nugget of joy or fun in this post for yourself.

Hope you had an incredible year, but if you didn't that is okay too.

Cheers to a brand new year, choosing happiness and heading into a whole new world of possibilities for yourself.

Remember, choosing yourself and creating boundaries isn't selfish.

It's necessary.
