all the things i want to say 🇺🇸

lives lost.

how?

how on earth did we allow this to happen.

to replace the taliban with the taliban after decades of effort.

i hate politics.

i hate getting political.

but i have so much i want to say.

so much i need to say.

just for my own humanness.

i don't care who the president is, who the president was.

what policies were made.

what policies were followed.

what polices were not.

& what would have been done if "x" were in the white house.

i care about what happened.

how we went about thinking any of this was an okay thing to do.

how in the actual fuck do we pull out and leave ANY of our military and all the lives we promised to those who helped us stuck in a world where people don't care about human lives.

in a place that is so full of hatred.

how does any of this make sense?

how can we work for nearly two decades to diffuse a situation just to bail out.

leaving our men and woman behind.

our munitions gone.

defenseless.

how?

seriously, how?

please explain to me.

did you not think this would happen?

evil stays evil.

i don't have the answers.

i don't know the answers.

but i do know, i never would have left my men and women the way we did.

i'm not saying it wasn't time to get out.

i don't have the answer to that.

in fact, the only people qualified to make that decision are the men and women over there who have been fighting and risking their lives.

we knew better.

& if you honestly couldn't see it playing out before it even happened, wow.

how do i learn that kind of trust?

the world isn't a little box for you to decide what you put in it.

well, actually...

scratch that.

you can absolutely decide what you put in your box.

it is your life.

but not understanding that there will be things that land outside of your perfect little box.

things you will have to cope with.

that they DO exist even if you don't want them to.

that is PRIVILEGE, my friends.

PRIVILEGE.

does that word make you uncomfortable?

PRIVILEGE.

there are so many types of privilege.

so many.

i would put a million dollars down; if I had it - actually lets make that 400 million, that every single one of you reading this post has experienced privilege in your life.

every

single

one

of

you.

& so much of it {OUR FREEDOM} has been bestowed upon us by our military.

just for this to happen.

so i'm going to say this for us all...

i'm sorry you don't always receive the respect you deserve.

i'm sorry some don't understand your purpose.

i'm sorry if the current circumstances make you feel like decades of work was destroyed in one single day.

i'm sorry if you haven't felt the support you deserve from us civilians.

i'm sorry we don't have the necessary resources when you enter back into civilian life to mend your brokenness.

i'm sorry.

i'm really, truly sorry.

thank you to the men and woman who so proudly fight for our freedom.

thank you to the families of those serving and those who lost their lives for sharing your human with the rest of us. their efforts do not go unnoticed.

thank you to all the veterans who are suffering from PTSD and many other medical ailments just so we can have a better life.

thank you to all the veterans who have turned their sorrow into organizations to help other veterans, families and current military personnel.

thank you to all the young men and women out there hoping to join our military some day.

thank you from the bottom of my heart.

your efforts do not go unnoticed.

i stand with you.

you have my support.

disclaimer : there are going to be some of you who read this who don’t feel free in this nation of ours. & i am truly sorry for that. truly. i wish i could change it for you. unfortunately a world does not exist without injustice. but please remember the freedoms you do have & who allowed you to have it. it is not the fault of our military that the humans of this nation have made it difficult to love one another; to accept one another as we are. remember what the members of the military have done for you and the freedoms you do have. & yes, it is privilege for me to even be able to say this…because i have not had to experience some of the same pains you have. but please don’t forget to separate the two. it is the military that has given you the right speak freely of your pain and traumas. they didn’t take it away, the human race did. please don’t take away the dedication and service our military has fought so hard for by belittling them. they deserve our upmost respect.
